An online video festival for high school students
Each year a panel of judges views the videos nominated in each category for that year and decides on a winner. The categories are described below.
An idea that is conceived, executed & achieved in an original & imaginative way. Can be narrative or non-narrative.
Best demonstration of individual style and expression. Choice of pacing, tone, visual elements, shots, angles, locations, actors or interviewees. All aspects of the video are unified and contribute to the message. The director demonstrates expertise in all phases of the production. The “hand” of the director is felt in all aspects of the production.
Best use of visual elements in the frame. Original and creative use of actors, interviewees, sets, locations, lighting, color and costume.
Best use of camera for visual communication. Clear sense of style in tone, perspective and balance.
Best demonstration of artistic and technical manipulation of sequences that enhances audience understanding and appreciation of the video. Style and pacing are appropriate to the video’s content and maintain consistency
